Event Postponed but Watch This Space!
by Portland Museum
All of us here at Portland Museum are disappointed to announce that our sound and light animation that was going to be projected onto Rufus Castle in September is going to be postponed for a year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event, designed and produced by artist Dan Shorten of The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, was scheduled to open the biannual b-side festival and is part of the ACE funded History, Myths and Legends of Church Ope project that the museum has been running in partnership with b-side.
The good news is that although this part of the project won’t be showing this year, Dan has agreed to continue working on the animation and will present it at next year’s festival that b-side have scheduled for 11th – 19th September 2021. On another positive note, further work on the project is continuing with the insightful report produced by Bea Moyes and our community team of researchers now being used by our wonderful heritage consultant Cath Brew to create new interpretation for the museum. We will have some wonderful work to share with you when the museum reopens! Please check our facebook page to view more fascinating work emerging from the Church Ope project.
Stay safe, from everyone here at Portland Museum.
