This November marks 200 years since the Great Gale of 1824. This momentous storm affected the majority of the south coast and swept away many houses in Chiswell. To commemorate the Great Gale, Portland Museum will be opening on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th, with a special performance from Island Voices starting at 4:30pm at the museum on Saturday 23rd.
Portland Museum staff will also be giving a talk on the Great Gale of 1824 on Thursday 21st November 2:30pm – 4pm at the C2000 Hall, Easton. Tickets are £3 or £2 for friends of Portland Museum. To book tickets email Chloe at [email protected] or call 01305 821804.
