Earl of Abergavenny Features at Chalke Valley History Festival
by Portland Museum
Portland Museum is delighted to be taking our Earl of Abergavenny pop up museum to Chalke Valley History Festival on Monday and Tuesday 26th and 27th June.
Our volunteer team will be showing and talking about the amazing collection of finds that were retrieved from the shipwreck, the digital 3D models that we’ve produced, and providing activities for some of the visiting school children to get involved in.
At 4:00 pm on Monday 26th June, Project Manager, Lucy, and Earl of Abergavenny diver and excavator, David Carter, will be giving a 30 minute talk on the Earl of Abergavenny shipwreck and the National Lottery funded project to digitise the collection. This will be held in the Speaker’s Corner tent.
The Chalke Valley History Festival is an annual event in the last week of June that excites, enthrals, and entertains about the past and how it influences our future.
The festival features a wide range of talks, discussions and debates, plus immersive living history, live music and historical performances and experiences – all designed to promote the understanding of history to all ages.
Come and join us for what promises to be a fabulous event!
