Volunteers 3D photograph finds from the Earl of Abergavenny
by Portland Museum
Volunteers taking part in Portland Museum’s Earl of Abergavenny project spent a great day learning how to 3D photograph finds from the eponymous ship that was wrecked just off the Portland coastline.
The workshop was run by Mat from MSDS Marine and preceded by an invaluable short course on how to safely handle collection items by Peta Knott from the Nautical Archaeology Society.
Phase 2 of the project is now in full swing with the new intake of volunteers producing great images of finds from the shipwreck that you can see here on our Sketchfab site.
You can read more about our National Lottery funded Diving into the Digital Archives of the Earl of Abergavenny project here and pop back to watch the progress our ace team of volunteers will be making as more of the finds make their way to the surface and into the digital world.
