b-side Festival Events at Portland Museum
by Portland Museum
Portland Museum is pleased to announce that we have some wonderful events coming up as part of b-side festival 2022.
On Saturday September 10th, b-side bursary artist, Christopher Lee, will be presenting a work in progress based on the museum’s National Lottery funded Diving into the Digital Archives of the Earl of Abergavenny project.
Working in sculpture and installation, Chris has been working creatively with the museum in its quest to digitally record the collection of finds excavated from the ship that struck the infamous Shambles Sandbank in 1805. Pop into the museum garden, for free, between 12:00 midday and 3:00 pm to view Chris’s work and chat about his ideas and plans.
On Friday September 9th, we will be hosting Belinda Zhawi’s poetry performance, Viva Voce.
This free event is taking place as part of b-side 2022 and the museum is delighted to once again be part of this year’s festival.
Viva Voce is a sound poetry performance exploring displacement; the role that water plays within it, and the themes of loss and home. The performance begins at 2:00 pm, after which, there will be an open to all conversation between artists Belinda Zhawi and Ioannis Panagiotou with b-side co-artistic director Sally Watkins, at 3:00 pm.
