Rufus Castle Virtual Tour Is Here!
by Portland Museum
Portland Museum is delighted to announce that our virtual tour of Rufus Castle is now available for everyone to enjoy: Rufus Castle – Portland Museum
Visitors to our website now have the freedom to safely explore this fascinating castle and enjoy a guided tour by archaeologist Gordon Le Pard. As well as Gordon’s historical guide to the castle you can also enjoy listening to the 1950s boyhood memories of Portland Museum volunteer, Alan Tune.
Up until now, access to the castle has been limited due to its precarious state and private ownership. Thanks to funding provided by Art Fund and help from museum partners, Guildhall Live, production of the tour has now made access to the castle available to everyone.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the castle and the great array of information we’ve gathered. For those of you interested in finding out more about the castle’s history, we’ve included some handy links for you on the tour page.
Build your own castle
Thanks to wonderful model maker, Philip Boyes, you can now craft your very own ‘real’ version of the castle. Use our full templates and instructions to make your own hands on model.
