WRITE NOW – A Community Poetry & Prose Afternoon
by Portland Museum
Thursday 8 October, 1:45pm–4pm
Portland Museum, 217 Wakeham, DT5 1HS
This October, Portland Museum is delighted to host WRITE NOW — a relaxed, creative afternoon
celebrating poetry, prose and the joy of sharing words within our community.
Following the wonderful response to last year’s Poetry Festival, three local writers — Chris Fogg, Paul
Snow and Dave Warren — will be welcoming visitors for an informal session where anyone can read
their own work aloud. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or someone who simply enjoys putting
thoughts on paper, this is a chance to share your voice in a friendly, supportive setting.
Writers are invited to bring:
• A poem of up to 30 lines, or
• A short piece of prose of up to 400 words
Your writing can be on any subject — from everyday moments to island memories, from the deeply
personal to the delightfully imaginative. Pieces inspired by Portland are very welcome but not
required.
If you prefer to listen rather than read, you’re just as welcome. The afternoon is open to anyone who
enjoys words, stories and the creativity of others.
Admission and refreshments are free, and everyone is welcome, whether you’d like to read your work
or simply enjoy an afternoon of local creativity.
